“We were a Christian couple in ministry…”

We were a Christian couple in ministry, teaching others about purity and integrity, and and I didn’t feel that we were living what we were teaching. When I finally put my foot down and said that I would not watch pornography for moral reasons and because it took the focus off us and our togetherness and instead focused on strangers, my husband decided that it would be a good idea to make his own sex videos, with me as his porn star.

This quote comes from the book Sexual Abuse in Marriage [Affiliate link] by D. Anne Pierce, which has just been published on Kindle. I know quite a few of our readers will identify with this lady’s story.

The author draws not only from her own experience, but also from what she has learned counselling other survivors of sexual abuse in marriage. I’m still reading the book, but I wanted to let you know about it without delay. I’ll put it on our Resources page as well.

By the way, you can download the Kindle App for free, for your computer, laptop, or iPad. You don’t need to buy a Kindle device. I did it just the other day, by Googling “Download Kindle App for Mac”. And I’m a bit of a techo-phobe, so if I can do it, you can do it!

  1. Barbara – I read the whole book the other evening. It didn’t take very long and I really liked the frankness of this lady. She laid it right out there about what happened to her and the tactics used. Also, increasingly I am realizing that our churches, with far more frequency that any of us would like to admit, have pastors and leaders just like the guy she was married to. There are many reasons for wanting to be a pastor or church leader, and very few of them are good! It is another way for a wicked person to achieve self-glory and power and control over others. I have had numbers of pastor’s wives contact me over the last year, telling me about the awful marriage they are in and what their “man of God” is really like.
